Google Changes Algorithm to Penalize Sites with Excessive Ads

A change to the Google algorithm that will affect how websites with excessive ads are ranked. The change is intended to penalize websites that force visitors to scroll down "below the fold" to find content.

The announcement created a buzz on Google's blogs and over the web as Webmasters and SEO specialists worried whether their websites would be affected.

The change is expected to only affect 1% of all web searches. That means that only 1 time in 100 searches will you see the results shuffled from what they looked like before this change. So, Google is clearly not targeting a significant number of sites with this change.

This change is good for web users, webmasters and for Google who all benefit from high quality content on the web.
